Visit of the RDK Karlsruhe 2025

  • Date: 10.02.2025

On Monday, February 10, the annual tour of the EnBW Rhein-Hafen-Dampfkraftwerk (RDK) steam power plant in Karlsruhe took place. The excursion was offered as part of Prof. Bauer's “Thermal Turbomachines” lecture and gave the students the opportunity to gain valuable insights into power generation in the ultra-modern Block 8 of the RDK. After a brief introduction to the EnBW company, a tour of the plant site included a visit to all the components that are important for the operation of the coal-fired power plant. Among its many features, the participants were guided through the boiler house, the turbine hall with turbines and generator and the control room to gain an insight into the power plant and the technical implementation of the basic principles covered in the lecture.

Thanks to the expert guidance, no question was left unanswered and we would like to thank EnBW for the excellent tour.
